Your Camping Equipment

Tons of different items that could be classified as camping equipment. Camping equipment doesn’t have to seem like a chore to get together, but you should still give yourself plenty of time to make sure you have everything that you need.

Rustic equipment:

Somehow, camping equipment goes against the very point of going camping in the first place – to get away from technology and civilization for a while. Even if you plan to live off the land, make sure you have an adequate supply of food rations on hand. So, outdoor camping tents go a little against the idea.

You will also want to make sure you bring along cooking utensils for over the campfire. You can get several different types of frying pans, skewers, and even bread toasters for over the campfire. If you are particularly fond of coffee in the morning, make sure to have your tin coffee pot and cups handy.

Include a first aid kit with your camping equipment supplies. Keep some medications handy for any bouts you may end up having with the cold or flu. Just because you are out camping, doesn’t mean you still can’t be susceptible to all of the little things you are unprepared for.

Have a nice, warm, sleeping bag ready. A waterproof tent that you can take the top piece off and watch the stars. If you are really handy, you’ll have a radio with batteries in it, and perhaps not for the music itself, but to be informed of severe weather conditions that may be approaching.

The list of what you could use for camping equipment is endless and depends on how long you intend to camp for. Make sure you have an adequate supply of clothing on hand so you don’t have to freeze to death if you fall in the lake accidentally.

The “Indoor Outdoor”

Even though there is someone always present at public camping sites, it is a good idea to make sure you carry supplies with you in case of an accident. Depending on where you are camping, you could come across situations that would require medical attention. Of course, lets hope this isn’t the case for anyone on your next camping trip. Its just better to be safe than sorry. This is part of the how to camp knowledge.

Unlike rustic camping equipment, where it is a good idea to at have a lantern for night vision, you are pretty well set up with everything you could need to be modern. So all you need to take along are those spare items inside of your house that will make your camping trip more enjoyable. If you like to be at home more than rustic camping, you need to make sure you are prepared to make yourself comfortable.

You should always place being dry and warm as a first priority when camping. You can’t do much of anything, after all, if you are suffering from hypothermia. People have done it for generations and you can do it for a few days too. It’s easy to see why camping is a great activity for the whole family

Now Get Outdoor Gear!

Camping Equipment Mistake

The biggest mistake of most first time campers is they pack way too much camping equipment. They go crazy the moment they walk into the camping gear store and stock up with so much stuff they don’t even consider that they’ll have to lug all that stuff to the camp grounds. Especially if the camping trip involves hiking, they don’t consider how heavy all that camping equipment is going to be. They just see all that gear and think they’ll need it. Most of the time, they don’t even know how to use most of the items.

Don’t fall into this trap. Before you walk into a camping equipment store, have a list made of everything you think you’ll need. That way, you won’t go overboard and you’ll have exactly everything you’ll need to have a great time camping.

The Necessities

The three necessities that you should take with you are shelter, food and water. Any other camping equipment besides that is extra bulk. Of course, there are certain pieces of camping equipment that provide one of these three things. There are tents for shelter, there are knives for the gathering of food, and there are strainers and water purifiers to help you obtain clean water. Those are intelligent camping equipment choices as they provide one of the necessities.

You can, of course, get all the camping equipment you want. Just make sure you’re ready to carry it all around. Some extras are recommended, such as blankets for keeping warm, stoves for cooking food, pots, pans, silverware, things like that.

The trick is to maintain a healthy balance between what you need and what you don’t. You don’t want to be walking around the woods banging and clanging with a bunch of useless camping equipment you’ll never use.

Stick To The List

Before you even go to the camping equipment store, make a list of what you think you’ll need on your outdoor camping trip. Then, once you actually go to the store, stick to that list and don’t get anything else just because you think you may need it. If you didn’t need it when you were making the list, you don’t need it. You’ll save money and you’ll be glad you didn’t take as much stuff.

Just remember, camping is about experiencing nature. It’s about getting away from the hustle and bustle of your hectic schedule and it’s about doing without all the computers and cell phones and all the rest of life’s luxuries. It’s not about the camping equipment itself.

So you are going on a backpacking adventure but don’t know what you should wear! The question you probably have is how do you prepare yourself for you backpacking trips?

You can start off by getting the right outdoor gear. Some of the basic items that you will need could vary and to help you out here are some of them which would be critical items to carry on you backpacking adventures.

The Proper Footwear

If you’re going to be hiking all day, you definitely want to make sure you have the right shoes. Keeping your feet comfortable is one of the best ways to make the most of your backpacking excursion, and YakTrx has the perfect shoes to make hiking fun. You can even wear these shoes in the snow and ice to keep from falling, which is great if you plan on hiking during the winter.

Your favorite athletic shoe brands, such as Innov 8, also have great hiking shoes that will give your feet and ankles support as you climb steep hills.

The Sleeping Bag

Once you’ve stopped hiking for the day and want to get some rest for the trail tomorrow, you’ll want to cuddle into a warm, cozy sleeping bag. And Big Agnes has just the sleeping bag you need if you’re trying to stay warm during the night. The insulation is great, and the bag is lightweight, so it’s easy to carry. If you want to stay cool but comfortable, you may want to try any Sierra Designs sleeping bag, with just enough padding to keep your comfortable, but thin lining for a comfortable temperature.

Backpacks

Of course, you’re going to need the right backpack! Outdoor gear has to be stored in your bag, and you’ll want to make sure the pack is comfortable, so this is one of the most important items for your camping trip.

Brands like GoLite carry great camping bags with lots of compartments so you can sort your items without getting disorganized, and you can also check out brands like Osprey and Gregory, so that you can get bags with stands and extra components to help you hold any heavy items that you may bring with you.

These companies also make camping bags for kids, so if you plan on bring your children with you, you can be sure they will have a place for their outdoor gear as well.

Now Get Outdoor Gear!
